Hypothesis statement

We hypothesised that by providing users with personalised reminders and gamification incentives to take breaks and stay hydrated, the overall well being of users will improve and they can maintain a healthy lifestyle. We expect users will experience increased energy levels, reduced feeling of fatigue and burn out

Assumptive persona

Meet Sarah. A junior UX designer, she’s a busy working professional who spends most of her days at a desk. `she often forgets to take breaks and stay hydrated, which leads her feeling fatigued and burned out. Sarah is interested in improving her health but she struggles to find the time and motivation to do so

How might we

How might we offer users like Sarah Personalised reminders, gamification incentives to encourager her and health advise to reduce fatigue and burnout, and increase a sense of accomplishment.

User Insight

From the user insight we found Sarah, a busy individual with a sedentary lifestyle, needs encouragement to build healthy habits and take breaks, because her desk job and lack of time are having a negative impact on her physical and mental well-being. This is making her feel frustrated. From our research and the insight we where able to deduce our User Persona

Digital wireframes

Guerilla user testing plan

We ideate a plan to test our low-fi prototype. It is a low-cost method to evaluate how effective an interface is, and find out usability problems with common tasks such as: the onboarding process.

Objective:

The objective is to find pain points and problems with the interactions through the onboarding process and tracking water intake in order to achieve goal.

Tasks:

  1. Onboarding.

  2. Have a glass of water (Tracks water intake).

Feedback:

  • Make water drinking task clearer (low success)

  • Navigation bar should make it easy to access goals/home page

  • Create a minus screen button in case of accidental clicks

User Prioritisation Matrix

Water tracker- Added an undo option within the water tracker

Few modifications where made after the usability test

For instance:

Achievement page- added animated mascot as users loved this idea. Also, to gamify the app we decided users could earn stars or trophies when achieving goals.

IOS Prototype

Based on the Apple’s iOS Human Design. We follow their expertise in UI design to create a coherent solution with the rest of UI systems in the market.

Furthermore, since this conventions will help improving usability by making the learning process easier to the user as they already know how to use the different elements into the UI system.

Final thought and conclusion

Through our UX design process, we discovered that incorporating gamification was a successful strategy to engage users, and we should continue to iterate on our mascot and animations to further align with our brand. We should consider further development in our community and healthy meals feature given the time constraints, we will need to prioritize these features in future iterations of the app.

In addition, we will continue to gather feedback from users and conduct user testing to ensure that our design decisions are meeting their needs and expectations.

We should continue to improve the app's usability, making sure that the user flow is intuitive and effortless, and minimizing user frustration.

Considering how to establish users' trust in a lifestyle app that takes personal information such as weight and age by prioritizing security measures, provide transparent data usage policies, design an intuitive user interface, encourage positive reviews, and offer effective customer support.
